Robert Gus Hartman passed peacefully to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday December 14, 2016. He was born in Covington, KY on June 25, 1925. Robert was married to Marion Amelia Snodgrass on May 20, 1946. He is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years; parents Gus and Elsie Burns Hartman, nephew Stevie DeSalvo and infant grandson Richard Hartman II. He is survived by his five children: Kathleen (Bill) Blackburn, Deborah (Doug) Rockenstein, Robert M. Hartman, Richard (Donna) Hartman and David (Toni) Hartman; Grandchildren: Billly (Kori) Blackburn, Jason (Erica), Adam, and Aaron (Stacey) Rockenstein, Meredith and Maura Hartman, and Hailey Hannah, and Andrew Hartman. Great grandchildren Kendall Rockenstein, Will, Braden, and Drew Blackburn. Robert was a loyal son, devoted husband, dedicated father and loving grandfather. He was a faithful servant of the Lord, serving as sunday school teacher and deacon at Latonia Baptist Church and later as member of the Florence Baptist Church, Robert served his country in WW#2 in the U.S. Airforce. He was a tireless champion for the children of the Covington Independent School system, serving for 16 years on the General School Board and as a mentor/tutor for grade-school children. He was particularly fond of and generous in his service to his Alma Mater-Holmes High School, serving and supportig in many facets including the Alumni association for many years. He was honored for his service with the establishment of the Robert G. Hartman Family Resource Center within Holmes High School.. Join us for a celebration of Robert’s life with visitation Sunday, December 18th, from 4 until 6pm and service at 6PM at Florence Baptist Church 642 Mt. Zion Rd., Florence, KY 41042. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Fairhaven Rescue Mission, 260 Pike St., Covington, KY 41011. Allison & Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill serving the family.
