James W. Childs II, known by his friends as JW or Jim, passed away on April 9, 2015. Born in Van Wert, Ohio, JW graduated from Millersburg Military Institute and attended the University of Cincinnati, and has been a resident and buinessman in Covington, KY and the Cincinnati area since the 1980’s. He is preceded in death by his mother Louanne and father James Childs. He is survived by his children, Malcolm and Soleil, their mother Paula, siblings Elizabeth Childs, M.D., Anne Childs Freeman, Dylan Childs, M.D., and Karrin Childs, as well as his nieces and nephews and many loving friends. JW’s work took him to many far-flung locations, and he could always be counted on to recommend the best hotels, restaurants and hangouts in any city he visited. Friends and family often went to him for advise, debate, a good laugh, an interesting story, a patient (lengthy) explanation or an empathetic ear. JW was a bit of an amateur chef and was always trying out new dishes with the latest in kitchen gadgetry. He enjoyed music, cycling, and the Bengals, but most of all, he enjoyed the time he got to spend with his beloved children. Services will be held on April 18th at Allison & Rose Funeral Home at 1021 Madison Avenue in Covington, Ky. Visitation will be from 2-3 followed by a memorial service from 3-4, Friends are welcome to come by and share their memories of JW with each other and his family. Per his wishes, a cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the local AA Chapter or a charity close to your heart.
