George McClellan Perkins, 83 of Covington, KY passed away peacefully on May 8, 2012 after a hard-fought and brave battle with lung cancer, Born May 17, 1928 in Stearns, KY, he was one of six children of Sam W. Perkins and Polly (nee Gresham) Perkins. He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 60 years, Ella Mae (nee Burke): his daughter, Judy Mae Wedding; his sisters Naomi Perkins, Ruby Crabtree, Mishie Worley, and Gloria Mae Kidd Drew; his brother, Doris Perkins; and his bevoted dog, Boo-Boo. He is survived by his beloved companion and best friend, Evelyn Rapier. He leaves behind his children, Debby (life partner Ginger Tafel) Perkins, Lisa (Dan) Witterstaetter, Steven (Carolyn) Perkins, Terri (Mark) Adams, and Greg (Jane) Perkins, and his son-in-law Robert Wedding. He is also survived by the greatest joys of his life, his grandchildren: Jeff (Stacey) Wedding, Amanda Wedding, Joey Witterstaetter, Tommy Witterstaetter, Boone Dannelly, Claire Adams, Brandon Perkins, and Meredith Perkins. He was a Baptist deacon, a church teacher and music director, a musician, singer, piano technician (at Baldwin Piano Co.,), tool maker, and earned his GED shortly after his youngest child graduated from high school. After retirement from Cincinnati Milacron, he traveled with family, loved working in his yard, and enjoyed bowling with friends and attending his grandchildren’s sports and school events. He was a member of the West Covington Baptist Church. He never raised his voice in anger or turned down a request for help. He will be greatly missed by the many friends and loved ones who knew him. A celeberation of his life will be held at the Allison & Rose Funeral Home, 5645 Taylor Mill Road, Taylor Mill, KY. Visitation Friday, May 11th from 12 noon until 1:30 PM: The funeral service will begin a 1:30PM, right after the visitation. Burial at Independence Cemetery will follow the service.
