Frank Anthony Wermeling, 62, passed away on February 16, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky. He was born on September 18, 1951 in Covington, Kentucky to Gilbert and Mary (nee Hoffman) Wermeling. Frank grew up in Bellevue, Kentucky. He graduated from Covington Latin School in Covington, Kentucky in 1967. After high school, he attended Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, Kentucky receiving a Bachelor of Arts in history in 1971. Frank was awarded a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship attending Vanderbilt and Columbia Universities. He graduated from the University of Kentucky, College of Law in 1979. Frank worked for the State of Kentucky Environmental Protection Agency. Frank married Dr. Linda Wermeling in 1999 in Newport, Kentucky and they were happily married for 14 years. He is known for his work with the disabled, serving as the Vice President of the Disabilities Coalition of Northern Kentucky. He worked tirelessly advocating for benefits of those in need. Frank had twenty-four years of sobriety in Alcoholics Anonymous. He did extensive service work and sponsored many sobering alcoholics. Frank was an AA Conference speaker across the United States and Canada Frank was preceded in death by his parents Mary and Gil Wermeling. Frank is survived by his spouse Linda (nee Bowling) of Covington, Kentucky; his son, Dr. Ryan Wermeling and daughter-in-law Ms. Maddie Schueler of Lexington, Kentucky; his siblings, Mary Ann Stevenson (Robert) of Walhonding, Ohio; Dr. Joseph Wermeling of Madison, Wisconsin; and, David Wermeling (Pat) of Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. Many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews also survive him. A visitation will be held Tuesday February 25 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Allison and Rose Funeral Home at 1021 Madison Avenue, Covington, Kentucky. A visitation will also be held Wednesday February 26 from 10:30 to 12:00 followed by the Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at noon at Mother of God Church at 119 W 6th St, Covington, Kentucky. A celebration of Frank’s life will follow in the church undercroft The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Lung Association, 55 W. Wacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601.
