WLW TV’s Bill Myers e-mail reads:
She is perhaps best remembered as Ruth Lyons’ longtime trusted assistant
and confidante, having joined WLW shortly after her graduation from the University of Cincinnati in the mid-’40s. She was instrumental in creating and overseeing many of the Fifty-Fifty Club contests which were so popular over the years. Her skills and adaptability served her well when Ruth’s program begain airing on television. Whatever the challenge, Elsa could meet it.
After the lost of her parents and Al, her many friends were her family. She regularly attended Music Hall concerts, lent her beautiful singing voice to several church choirs and loved playing bridge.
Elsa was comfortable with everyone she met, worked with and socialized with. She was extremely intelligent, a talented poet and song writer, and could write wickedly funny song parodies that graced the Ruth Lyons and Bob Braun TV programs from time to time.
After the Bob Braun Show left the air in 1984, Elsa continued at WLWT for several years in her role as administrator for the Ruth Lyons Children’s Christmas Fund. Ironic-Bob will be gone ten years this Friday, January 15th. Hope they find a glamorous picture.
