Dear Linda,
I remember the first time I ever saw you. You were standing near the heat register in Mrs. Hargraves room. Having already met Georgia Mae and Rosetta Hunter, you turned and gave me that brilliant smile that said to me this will be my friend. I don’t remember exactly what we spoke about, but we decided to be friends. I treasure that memory 60 years later.
Because of that friendship, Miss Alice became “My Buddy” throughout my adult years. Many were the secret smiles and knowing glances, and outright conversations and the respected advice and observations she gave me through the years.
Thank you for your friendship and for sharing Miss Alice with me.
Know that my prayers and deepest condolences are with you and your family, but as I look your Mom’s picture, I have to smile through watery eyes for the friendship and caring of Mrs. Alice B. Butler.
Be Blessed,
Crystal Madaris
